North Carolina is learning: Gay rights are not optional in an advanced economy

North Carolina is supposed to be the heart of the new South. The state's economy is no longer all about tobacco and textiles. It's a big player in financial services and high-tech, and it wants to keep adding high-skill, high-wage jobs in those sectors.

But there's an issue: A lot of lawmakers and voters in North Carolina have a problem with the gay stuff.

Mark Zuckerberg just took a veiled shot at Donald Trump

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is hosting a big tech conference in San Francisco.

And right out of the gate on Tuesday, Zuckerberg stepped onstage and threw a jab at Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump.

"I hear fearful voices calling for building walls," he said. "It takes courage to choose hope over fear. Instead of building walls, we can build bridges."

That's a reference to how Trump has been calling for a giant wall to be built along the US border with Mexico. Читать дальше...
