China Announces Plans To Send Rover To Mars Around 2020

China plans to send an unmanned rover to Mars by around 2020, the country’s top space official confirmed Friday, just days after another senior official revealed the country’s plans to do so during an interview with the BBC. Speaking at a press conference in Beijing, Xu Dazhe, director of China’s National Space Administration, said that sending a probe to the red planet would be “a giant leap” for China’s space capabilities.

Migrants in boats are landing in Greece at the rate of about 150 a day from Turkey after a hiatus, indicating that the "hermetic sealing" of this route to Europe appears to be over, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said on Friday.

More than 1.1 million refugees and migrants reached the EU last year, mostly via Greece from Turkey. But daily arrivals have fallen sharply since the Ankara-Brussels deal.

Caterpillar whiffs on earnings and slashes its forecast for the year (CAT)

Caterpillar reported first-quarter earnings that were weaker than forecast, and lowered its expectations for the rest of the year.

The industrial-machinery maker posted $0.67 in adjusted earnings per share (EPS), and revenues of $9.5 billion.

According to Bloomberg, analysts had estimated that Caterpillar earned $0.68 in EPS, roughly the midpoint of the range it earlier projected, and revenues of $9.39 billion.
