Roche Group's Genentech said Tuesday that its Avastin drug had been approved by the Food and Drug Administration to treat a specific type of advanced ovarian cancer in combination with chemotherapy. The drug was given priority review for the disease, platinum-sensitive recurrent epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube or primary peritoneal cancer, and granted approval on the basis of two late-stage clinical trials, the company said.
