Samsung’s next big phone will ditch the headphone jack and the home button, says report

Samsung will omit the 3.5mm headphone jack from its next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S8, according to a new report from SamMobile.

Instead, the report says, you’ll have to use headphones that connect over USB-C, which Samsung first adopted with the now-defunct Galaxy Note 7, a 3.5mm adapter, or headphones connect wirelessly over Bluetooth.

The idea should sound familiar: Apple controversially removed the headphone jack from this year’s iPhone 7, despite months of consumer grousing. Читать дальше...

Seth Meyers: Why Trump's foreign policy is already dangerous

BusinessInsider.com

YouTube/NBC

In Seth Meyers’ latest “A Closer Look” segment on “Late Night” Monday, the host put his attention to not just the puzzling claims President-elect Trump has made about mass voter fraud (with no evidence to back it up), but also Trump's recent moves regarding foreign policy.

The biggie is Trump taking a call from the president of Taiwan, which might affect US-China relations.

“Whatever your thoughts are on China, it’s a delicate, important relationship," Meyers said. Читать дальше...

An appeals court ruling saying Samsung had to pay a $399-million penalty to its American rival for copying key iPhone designs was overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday, Reuters reported. In an 8-0 ruling, the justices sent the case back to the lower court for further proceedings, the report said. Princely Duties at “The Nutcracker”

The New Yorker

In addition to being a holiday entertainment, “The Nutcracker” is, of course, a ballet about children facing down (and conquering) grownup fears. It is, after all, the tale of two children who save the world, at least the world inside Marie’s head. This is particularly true of George Balanchine’s version for New York City Ballet, in which the children are played by actual children.
