Pittsburgh high school cancels classes after worker's injury

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A Pittsburgh high school has canceled classes after a construction worker was hospitalized following an electrical accident that happened on school grounds over the weekend. The victim was severely shocked after he cut an underground power line while performing demolition work at the school, which lost power.

ISTANBUL (Reuters) - Turkish police have detained 45 provincial officials from the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) over allegations of links to Kurdish PKK militants, media reported on Monday.

The operations were launched after an offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) on Sunday claimed responsibility for twin bombings that killed 38 people and wounded 155 outside an Istanbul soccer stadium.

Greek police detonate bomb outside ministry

ATHENS — Greek police on Monday detonated a bomb outside the labour ministry in Athens following a warning phone call, a police source said.

Bomb specialists blew up a backpack found outside the ministry building entrance in central Athens. Nobody was hurt.

"It was a time bomb," a police source told AFP, adding the device was "faulty" as it had failed to explode at the time set.
