KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City metro area saw the most growth in electric vehicles in the U.S. for the second quarter in a row, and widened the gap between other cities including Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Denver.

Sheriff: California burglar falls asleep at high school

Placer County sheriff's officials say a school employee discovered one of the men on Monday morning asleep in a classroom at Chana High School in North Auburn. The sheriff's office says the men — 27-year-old Kevin Thomas, of Fresno, and 25-year-old Travis Alexander, a Sacramento-area transient — broke windows to get into classrooms and filled two school-owned vehicles with computers, televisions and other stolen items.

Snap slides to a nearly 1-month low (SNAP)

Snap's stock price has fallen around 5% in early trading Thursday.

The ephemeral messaging company is now trading at its lowest levels in nearly a month.

This comes as no surprise, as bearish bets against the company have been on the rise. The ratio of puts to calls is 1.7-to-1, the highest since March 17, the fifth day of trading for the company. The ratio was as high as 3-to-1 shortly after options trading began in mid-March.

But wander into the world of science standard-setting, and you're likely to encounter a few topics that roil emotion.
