America's first all-wood high-rise will be built in Portland, Oregon

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — City officials in Portland, Oregon, have approved a construction permit for the first all-wood high-rise building in the nation.

Developers announcing the approval Tuesday say it's a milestone for wood technology.

State officials hope it could help parts of rural Oregon reboot a dwindling timber industry.

The 11-story building called Framework will use a technology called cross-laminated timber, or C-L-T, that tests have shown can withstand big earthquakes. Читать дальше...

The auction went live on eBay on Sunday June 4, and will conclude on Friday, June 9 at 7:30 p.m. PST, at which point a winner can invite up to seven of their closest friends to lunch in New York City with the Oracle of Omaha.

Conservatives have 7-point edge in YouGov's final U.K. election projection

The final YouGov projection before Thursday's U.K. snap election predicts the Conservatives will prevail and gain seats in Parliament, though far fewer than predicted six weeks ago.
