Miranda Lambert Rocks Classic Country Divorce Song, ‘Rated X’
The lyrics of the classic tune speak directly to Lambert’s status as a new divorcee, as well as the rampant rumors that flew around regarding her alleged faults in the split: “Well, if you’ve been a married woman/ And things didn’t seem to work out/ Divorce is the key to bein’ loose and free/ So you’re gonna be talked about.”
While presenting the 83-year-old Lynn with the Crystal Milestone Award to mark her 50-year career in country music, Lambert said, “she sang songs that were not necessarily appropriate to sing at times like this for me. So I’m thankful for women empowerment.”
It was a great night overall for the hotter-than-ever Lambert, who also took time to catch up and hang out backstage with fellow country stars Luke Bryan, Holly Williams, and Jason Aldean.
After the ceremony, Lambert uploaded a video of herself and her glam squad taped earlier in the night, belting out and singing into curling irons to Taylor Swifts “Bad Blood.” The group challenged Swift to a “glam jam.” (No word from Swift’s camp on whether or not the challenge has been accepted.)
Meanwhile, since announcing her divorce to Blake Shelton, Lambert has been getting her groove back by keeping busy writing new songs, posting updates, and having girls’ nights with Nashville gal pals such as Ashley Monroe.
