Blatter hospitalised, refuses to quit
Suspended Fifa boss Sepp Blatter is in hospital with an undisclosed illness but has no intention to quit, his adviser said.
|||Zurich - Suspended Fifa president Joseph Blatter is in hospital with an undisclosed illness but has no intention to quit, his adviser Klaus J Stoehlker told dpa on Wednesday.
“he is in the recovery stage. The doctors say that he can work again from next Tuesday onwards,” Stoehlker said.
Stoehlker did not reveal the reason why Blatter was hospitalised but said: “He told me: my head and my heart were always OK.”
Blatter, 79, was last week told by doctors to rest and was hospitalised on the weekend, according to Stoehlker.
Blatter and Uefa president Michel Platini were provisionally suspended for 90 days on October 8 by the Fifa ethics committee in connection with a “disloyal payment” and Blatter is also suspected of mismanagement in one other case in a Swiss criminal probe.
Blatter and Platini have protested their innocence and appealed the ruling. Should that be rejected by Fifa Blatter plans to go before the Court of Arbitration for Sport as he seeks to stay on the job as planned until an extraordinary Fifa congress set for February 26.
“I am the elected Fifa president, I was elected by the 209 member federations of Fifa and no commission in the world can remove me,” he said.
