Misty Copeland Shows Off Giant Engagement Ring on the Red Carpet
Congrats, girl! 2015 has been a pretty big year for Misty Copeland. She was named the first African American principal dancer for the American Ballet Theater in June, and, in September, revealed her engagement to longtime boyfriend Olu Evans in her cover interview with Essence magazine. Then, on Sunday, Nov. 8, she picked up The Showstopper honor at Glamour's Women of the Year Awards — giving Us a good look at the huge sparkler on her ring finger.
Copeland, 33, glammed up her black turtleneck maxidress with a ton of shiny baubles, including gold bracelets, and statement earrings, but the accessory that stood out the most was her giant engagement ring.

The cushion-cut center stone with a halo setting sits on a pave diamond-encrusted band. Speaking to Essence about her engagement, and her fabulous year, Copeland, who also grabbed a spot on Time's 100 Most Influential People list in 2015, said, "I can't believe my life right now!"

Even though the Under Armour ambassador's had a stellar 2015, she's not going to forget where she came from. "I'm going to continue to be who I am and my experiences as a black woman have made me who I am," Copeland told Essence. "All of a sudden now that I'm in this position, I'm not going to say, 'I'm just a dancer.' It's a huge deal because I'm a black woman. That's why it's a big deal."
