Jeremy Corbyn tips Arsenal for the Premier League title: 'In Arsene Wenger we trust'

Arsenal fan Jeremy Corbyn is targeting a double celebration as he backed his side to win the Premier League this season, and his party to claim the next election.

The Labour leader was asked which he though would happen soonest: a Labour general election win or Arsenal winning the title.

Whilst he hoped to claim electoral victory before 2020 he is confident that Arsene Wenger’s side will be parading the Premier League trophy through his local constituency in May.

“I hope the general election will come very soon, but I’m very confident of Arsenal this season.

“In Arsene Wenger we trust!”

Throughout his parliamentary career Corbyn has backed several Arsenal-related early day motions, in 2004 supporting a bill labelling the Gunners “the best club football team in the world”.

It received four votes in favour.

Corbyn has remained a staunch supporter of the manager even during the darkest periods of the Wenger reign, and will doubtless hope to receive similar patience from his colleagues in the Labour party.
