49ers’ well-traveled Shaun Draughn lands 1-year deal
Six days after he was signed in November, Draughn, 28, made his first career start, collected 96 total yards and played 67 percent of the snaps in a win over the Falcons.
Draughn, who ranked fifth on the team in catches, missed the final two games with a knee injury that did not require surgery.
Before he signed with the 49ers, the undrafted free agent had been released seven times in an eight-team career that included 75 carries.
In 2016, he will compete for carries behind starter Carlos Hyde, who is coming off foot surgery and has missed 11 games in his two-year career because of injuries.
In Kelly’s first two seasons with the Eagles, however, LeSean McCoy ranked first and second, respectively, in the NFL with more than 300 carries each season.
Other running backs under contract for 2016 include Mike Davis, a 2015 fourth-round pick, DuJuan Harris and Jarryd Hayne.
