Super Bowl helped generate $8.2 million in city hotel taxes
Super Bowl 50 drew more than football fans to San Francisco — and it also helped bring in more than $8.2 million in hotel taxes.
The figure does not include short-term vacation rentals, such as Airbnb.
“Our hotels were nearly filled with visitors spending not only on hotel rooms but restaurants, transportation, shopping, entertainment and more,” said Joe D’Alessandro, president and CEO of San Francisco Travel.
An estimated 1.1 million people visited San Francisco for Super Bowl-related events leading up to the game, according to the Super Bowl 50 Host Committee.
