Sanral issues revised e-toll tariffs
Sanral reissues its e-toll tariffs after omitting both the punitive tariffs and the special discount in the previous publication.
|||Johannesburg - Sanral has reissued its e-toll tariffs, after forgetting to include both the punitive tariffs and the special discount in the last round, giving motorists a brief respite from the increases.
The updated tariffs were gazetted on Friday and replace the tariffs issued on 15 February, which upped the e-tolls by six percent and were the first increase since e-tolls were introduced in 2013.
The 15 February notice was supposed to increase the tariffs from Tuesday, but the revised notice delays this to 11 March.
The revised tariffs show the same basic charge as in the previous notice, but now specify that those are the rates for motorists who are registered e-tag users, or non-registered e-tag users, or registered vehicle licence number users.
The new notice adds the punitive tariff at twice the rate, which is for “alternate users”, which means those without e-tags and who are not registered with Sanral.
The revised notice also fixes an error in the earlier version which made the grace period 51 days - it’s now 31 days.
The alternate users can pay the e-tag rate if they pay within the grace period (31 days) or no later than within 30 days of the date of the Sanral invoice.
The revised notice now includes details on the classes of vehicles and of the various discounts, as well as the special discount announced in 2015 by deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa.
