Contractors return to federal project sites
Daily Trust reports that contractors handling over 200 federal highway projects worth hundreds of billions of naira have started returning to site nearly a year after they stopped work due to lack of payment.
This development, according to the federal ministry of works, power and housing followed appeals by the minister, Babatunde Fashola to contractors to return to work.

In Abuja, the German construction giant, Julius Berger, is back on the airport road while Dantata and Sawoe are mobilising on the opposite side of the city, the outer northern expressway (ONEX).
The construction firm, SCC Construction Company is at the moment working on two bridges as well as some sections of the road in Kagarko local government area of Kaduna state.
The Kano-Maiduguri expressway, like the Abuja Lokoja road, was awarded to four contractors during the administration of former president, Olusegun Obasanjo administration at about N50 billion in 2006.

The work has affected the free flow of traffic on affected roads as the site upon which work is going on has been temporarily closed.
The minister of power, works and housing, Babatunde Fashola has stated that passage of the budget would ensure the settlement of debts owed contractors for road projects across Nigeria.
