Boko Haram has suffered a series of stinging defeats this week
One of the Nigerian military officers involved in the battle, who spoke anonymously as serving soldiers are not supposed to speak to the press, said two MNTJF soldiers were killed while two others sustained injuries.
It is not known how many Boko Haram fighters were injured in the battle.
Alhaji Modu, a local politician from Abadam, said that the northern Borno area and particularly the Chad basin area has plentiful fish and food that have been sustaining the Boko Haram fighters.
Away from the battlefield dozens of Islamist spies like these have been arrested too
“That is why they have been having the power to come out and fight the military, but from what we are hearing, soldiers are gradually pursuing them and closing all the food supply routes,” Modu said,
“We hope that the soldiers are able to clear them from the area as their presence in that area has affected fish business.
