The protesters, many of whom were carrying placards displaying anti-Iran messages, stating that the Iranian government is encouraging extremism in Nigeria.
Speaking on behalf of the protesters, Comrade Ibrahim Abubakar and Bishop Musa Fomson urged President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately severe all diplomatic ties with Iran as Nigeria cannot afford another to have another band of extremists like Boko Haram.
“Comments from senior Iranian officials in the aftermath of the Zaria incidents were debasing to the extent that an uninformed person would be tempted to believe the whole of Nigeria was just another province of Iran,” the protest leaders said.

“Many of the comments actively emboldened IMN members to rise against the Nigeria state while some went as far as hinting at a physical invasion of our dear fatherland.”
Abubakar and Fomson said that the most inflammatory comments were made by Koozechi who seems hell bent on stoking Shiite extremism every week.
“Koozechi’s affront was to the point where he suggested that Nigeria will burn for detaining IMN leader El-Zakyzaky.”
Hundreds of Shiites were killed in clashes in December
“Koozechi’s tele-guiding of the IMN has bolstered the Shiite sect to the point where they now issue videos to threaten the Nigerian state and public officials,” the furious protesters said.
“Several of these videos are online and their authors and actors put them in the public space because they have confidence in getting Iranian backing for any atrocity they commit.
“No Nigerian, not even a national of any other country will dare this, even as a diplomat, in Iran and not be dangling from the end of a noose within 48 hours.”
