Bruce Springsteen revisits ‘The River’

“The River” isn’t Bruce Springsteen’s most popular album, nor his most beloved.

At 66, the superstar is out playing the album, which he made when he was 30, from start to finish night after night as he blazes across the country with the E Street Band.

Aside from a few “Spinal Tap” moments (such as the one in Cleveland last month when he exclaimed, “Party noises, Pittsburgh!”), he seems to be having a blast on tour, filling out his 3½-hour sets with big hits and deep cuts, along with tributes to fallen comrades like David Bowie and Glenn Frey of the Eagles.
