Duo finds the comedy in classical music
The best type of musical humor is the one that proceeds from a deep understanding of its subject, and expects to find the same sort of understanding in its audience.
From Anna Russell and Victor Borge through P.D.Q. Bach and Dudley Moore, classical music has nurtured a strain of comic performance that trades on solid performing skills to make its punch lines land.
Joining that tradition are the duo of violinist Aleksey Igudesman and pianist Hyung-ki Joo, who make their first local appearance this weekend in Davies Symphony Hall.
