– The outspoken demagogue remains the front runner in the Republican party race
– He has been accused of being a fascist due to his outlandish statements
Controversial businessman Donald Trump has once again stormed to victory in the latest round of the US presidential election primaries.
Trump won convincingly in the Republican primary elections in Mississippi, Michigan and Hawaii.
His nearest rival, Texan conservative Ted Cruz, came a distant second, increasing Trump’s chances on becoming the official Republican candidate.

“Ted Cruz is interesting because he’s always saying ‘I’m the only one that can beat Donald Trump,” Trump said.
“I’ve heard it so many times. And I said ‘but he never beats me’. Ted is going to have a hard time when it comes to some states.”
Cruz did manage to clinch victory in Idaho however that will come as little consolation on what was Trump’s night.

The real loser of the night was moderate candidate Marco Rubio who failed to secure the support of any delegates.
Rubio will now have to win his home state of Florida to have any chance of becoming the Republican candidate
The party’s 2012 nominee, Mitt Romney, described Trump as a bully and a fraud who would lose a general election because of his extreme positions on immigration and Islamic State.
Texas senator Ted Cruz appears to be the only Repbulican candidate who can take on Trump
A central plank of Mr Trump’s campaign is to deport 11m undocumented migrants and build a wall on the southern border, paid for by Mexico.
He also wants to ban Muslims from entering the US and has said he will deliberately target and kill the families of terrorists, even if they are innocent.

In the Democrat party primaries, there was a major upset in Michigan after self-described democratic socialist Bernie Sanders defied the polls and won convincgly against presumptive nominee Hilary Clinton.
“I am grateful to the people of Michigan for defying the pundits and pollsters and giving us their support,” Mr Sanders said in his victory speech.
“This is a critically important night. We came from 30 points down in Michigan and we’re seeing the same kind of come-from-behind momentum all across America.”
