Man removes knife from own neck after being stabbed, kills attacker

Yonatan Azarihab, 40, was collecting money for charity, when he was suddenly attacked by a Palestinian assailant in Petah Tikva, near Tel Aviv, Israel on Tuesday, Macrh 8.

The man entered the wine shop when his attacker stabbed him in the neck and torso. The owner of the shop hit the attacker and tried to restrain him, but in bizarre turn of events the victim managed to pull the knife from his body and used it to stab his attacker.

He was then rushed to hospital, while his attacker died a few minutes later on the pavement after police reportedly shot him. The incident was treated by police as a terrorist attack.

Speaking from his hospital bed, Azarihab, said: “I thought this was it… But then I pulled myself together. I understood it was a terrorist and that I had to fight him to keep him from killing me and other people.”

The attack is one in a series of recent stabbings and shootings to occur in Israel. The same day another unidentified Palestinian man stabbed an American tourist to death, and wounded at least nine other people.
