San Francisco becomes first U.S. city to mandate paid parental leave

The city’s board of supervisors on Tuesday unanimously passed the new law, which mandates that all companies with more than 20 employees pay 45% of a worker’s regular salary for up to six weeks of parental leave following a birth or adoption.
