Arlo Guthrie revisits ‘Alice’s Restaurant’

Arlo Guthrie is marking the 50th anniversary of his classic song “Alice’s Restaurant,” with a multimedia tour that gives fans a portal back to the tumultuous times when it was released, via videos, film clips and archival photographs.

“War is almost never the best idea for solving problems, although at times it may be unavoidable,” says Guthrie, who for years avoided playing the 17-minute tune.

When we mistrust the judgment of political leaders, the word ‘daunting’ becomes an understatement.
