Metro DJ Mo in a Fix over suicide remark
Mo Flava dubbed "an ill-informed idiot" over his response to rapper HHP's three suicide attempts.
|||Metro FM DJ Mo Flava left a bitter taste in the mouths of his listeners on Tuesday after an ill-considered remark about HHP’s battle with depression.
“Why would you want to kill yourself when you’re so famous and successful?’’ pondered the Morning Fix host after rapper HHP had revealed that he had tried to commit suicide on three occassions.
Some facebook users following the show were incensed that Mo Flava could be so insensitive.
“Metro fm DJs discussion on HHP depression a perfect example of how these radio hosts need to call experts in to discuss such major issues,” said one post.
Another simply cut to the chase and labelled the DJ an “idiot”.
“Mo Flava of METRO FM is an ill-informed idiot who is careless in his approach of serious matters ... His approach to the story of HHP’s attempted suicide is irresponsible. Metro needs to regulate content because some of their presenters lack brain capacity ...”
To his credit, Mo Flava did post a tweet asking listeners what advice they would offer to HHP.
“Strength to @HipHopPantsula,hope he comes out of this difficult period.any words of encouragement and advice for him?”.
But he feigned ignorance when questioned about his conduct on Twitter, claiming not to know what people were upset about, that they “obviously didn’t listen to the show”, and then saying “Everyone is entitled to their own opinion”.
