PDP chair: Tension as mass defection Looms
– Group warns of impending crisis in the Delta state chapter of the PDP if Governor Ifeanyi Okowa imposes Kingsley Esiso as chairman of the party
– Okowa sets up a committee to carry out a search for a credible candidate from Delta central, Urhobo speaking part of the state
There is palpable tension in the Delta state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) following alleged plans by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to back Kingsley Esiso for the chairmanship of the party in the state.

According to Leadership, a group has warned the governor to refrain from any decision to impose a candidate on the party as such may lead to mass defection of party members in Delta state.
The governor has reportedly set up a committee comprising of former minister of information, Prof. Sam Oyovbaire; former minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Dr. Stephen Oru and ex- minister of state, education, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi to carry out a search for a credible candidate from Delta central, Urhobo speaking part of the state for the position of state chairman of PDP.
In another development, the national chairman of the PDP, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has charged the APC led federal to stop blaming the PDP for its failure to provide solutions to the myriads of problems confronting the country.

Sheriff was reacting to recent statement credited to President Muhammadu Buhari where said the party’s 16-year reign was responsible for the nation’s prevailing economic woes and that the party failed to save for the rainy day.
Senator Sheriff who gave the caution on Tuesday, April 5 during the inauguration of four committees of the party– the convention, Reconciliation, Finance and Zoning committees, said the PDP shares in the pains Nigerians are going through in the hands of the APC led government.
He said with what has happened in the last one year of the APC government, Nigerians now have an opportunity to compare the performance of the two parties.
