Wonders of nature never before seen in this Nigerian state (photos, video)
Ekiti state is one of the states in Nigeria where the indigenes and residents are always proud of their heritage and culture.
The reason for their rich vein of cultural heritage is not far-fetched, they are blessed with some of the most amazing features any Nigerian state can boast of. One of such is the Ikogosi warm spring.

History has it that this uncommon work of nature where warm and cold water meet, was discovered by missionaries who used the site as a camp before the state government took over and kept up with its maintenance and funding.
But, where does this uncommon spring derive its power?

NAIJ.com’s correspondents went to the sleepy community of Ikogosi in Ekiti state to find out the true state of things and discovered just how much the people of the state idolise and do whatever they like in the spring.
In fact, some of them drink the water as well as bathe inside the resort as a way of showing their appreciation to God for bringing the incredible work of nature their way regardless of the harsh economic situation in the country.
Sunday Kehinde, an Anglican priest who spoke with NAIJ.com, revealed that they are certain about the efficacy of the warm spring to solve any problem they might be facing, hence their consistent visit to the place to scoop some for drinking, bathing and other domestic chores.

“The importance of this water to us is that it is natural water, without any form of artificial input. And this water, we all know, either you drink from it or take your bathe with it.
“We also use it to pray and God answers.
“I am an Reverend Canon in an Anglican church and we use the water to pray. If you check the source of the water, you’ll see that it is a tiny hole, but you can see it gushing out with full force here.

“We have never seen this kind of water before apart from what is in Ekiti,” he said.
The clergyman also added that the warm spring is a miraculous work of God.
NAIJ.com moved round the resort to check out some other features of the spring and saw the swimming pool which, the pool manager, Adeyemi Johnson says gets its water (crystal clear) from the spring.

The water, according to him, “is the source of the swimming pool and it has another opening on the other side of the pool where we have the children’s pool.
“We washed this pool about three days ago and if you look at it, it remains really clean. We do not add any chemical to it and we do not purify it in any way, that is to show you how pure the water from the spring is.

“I drink it day and night and I even take my bath with it here because it is a wonderful work of God in the state, which has been here for about 600 years.”
On whether people come to pray with the water or do other diabolical things there, Johnson said: “nobody is allowed to come around to pray here, whether you are a prophet or a herbalist or an Imam.

“People’s movements are also restricted because of this, as we do not want anybody to go the source of the water to mess it up.
“There is no god there, we only want to take necessary precautions.”
