Due to the high traffic in Lagos caused by queues at filling station, the Lagos state government has issued a warning that any filling station in the state where double line queues are formed while motorists queue for fuel will be shut down.
At a news conference in Alausa, Lagos on Wednesday, April 6, the commissioner for transportation, Dr. Dayo Mobereola said the government could no longer tolerate indiscriminate queues at filling stations, holding the state to ransom as from Thursday, April 7.

Mobereola added that any vehicle seen forming a double queue behind filling stations would be towed and fine imposed on the driver.
“The problem in the last few days has brought the state to a standstill. We have decided that this should not continue. The dispensing station should ensure that the queues are managed. They should henceforth ensure that only one single line is formed as vehicles queue to buy fuel so as to prevent traffic,’” he said
According to the commissioner, if the filling stations do not comply, government would shut down such filling station temporary until they form a single queue.
“A small group of people cannot hold the state to ransom, we are being magnanimous by allowing them a single lane on our roads,” he added.
Mobereola added that the one lane given to them must be managed judiciously, as it was the responsibility of the filling stations to do so.
