A witness, Michael Wetkast on Wednesday, April 6, told the court that the Senate President, Bukola Saraki continued to receive salary four years after leaving office as the governor of Kwara state.
Wetkast, a staff of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said Saraki continued receiving salary as governor after leaving office on May 29, 2011.
The witness said his investigation showed that the Senate President’s salary account as a governor was never stopped.

Saraki was a two time governor of Kwara state from 2003 to 2011.
Wetkast said: “For June his salary was N291,412.75, while that of July, August and September were N572,286.32, N744,000 and N743,942 respectively”.
“The defendant also received the sums N1,165,488 between the months of October to February 2012,” he said.
He further added that the former governor’s salaries and pension was stopped in August 2015.
The Senate President is being tried for falsely declaring his assets by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).
