Despite the fact that Nigerian are groaning under serious economic crunch, due to the high foreign exchange rate, fuel scarcity, epileptic power supply, among other social issues, some top Nigerians still have billions of the nation’s wealth allegedly and secretly kept in foreign accounts

1. Bukola Saraki
Saraki is the current president of the senate. He was a former two-term governor of Kwara state. He is presently facing charges bordering on money laundering and false assets declaration at the CCT.
In a recent reaction to Saraki’s involvement in the latest scam, the Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) called on Saraki to tow the path of honour, by resigning as the president of the Nigerian senate, or be ready to be disgraced out of office, due to the latest revelations from the ‘Panama Papers’ leaks about assets confirmed to be proceeds of corruption belonging to the Saraki Dynasty.

2. David Mark
Former Senate president, David Mark, who won his rerun election into the upper chambers, has also been indicted. The Benue state born senator was said to have a hand in milking Nigeria dry, while he was in government at different capacities. Following the leak of files belonging to Mossack Fonseca, a law firm in Panama, which links the immediate past Senate president to at least eight offshore shell companies, Nigerians are calling for his head, by a way of him resigning and also to face the law.

3. Theophilus Danjuma
Danjuma was the Minister of Defense during the first term tenure of former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. It was reported a few years back in the media, when Danjuma said, he had $5oo million, and did not know what to do with it. The Taraba state born retired general, is said to have some offshore companies and secret account.
4. James Ibori
According to a report by Africannews.com, former governor of Delta state, James Ibori, who has previously been found guilty of money laundering activities, and is still serving jail term, is a typical point of reference among top Nigerians involved in the Panama paper scandal.
He was convicted of such activities in 2012. Four offshore companies connected to Ibori are named in the Panama Papers, one of which was used to buy a $20m (£14m) private jet.
This same platform a few days ago, reported that, the ex-governor admitted using his position to corruptly obtain and divert up to $75 million out of Nigeria through a network of offshore companies, while authorities supposed that the total amount he embezzled may have exceeded $250 million.
