A’s probable starters, April 12-13
Yes, the A’s flew from Seattle to Oakland on a plane the Giants are chartering this season.
No, A’s players weren’t upset, embarrassed or complaining, according to right fielder Josh Reddick.
Reddick tweeted a picture of the plane, with a Giants logo, and heard back from not-too-thrilled A’s fans.
Fans make the rivalry a lot more than the players do.
Yeah, the games mean more because of the rivalry that has been created here.
The Giants’ plane has first-class seats from front to rear.
Just not as nice, Reddick and other A’s said, as the plane the A’s generally use — the Dallas Mavericks’ plane, which wasn’t available Sunday.
[...] Eastern Airlines had the A’s use the one chartered by the Giants.
Eastern reconfigured the Giants’ 90-seat chartered plane to their specifications, different from the plane they chartered from a diffferent company last season.
The only major-league team that owns its own plane is the Detroit Tigers, whose owner Mike Illitch uses it for both his Tigers and Red Wings.
Of his tweet, which prompted follow-up posts on many websites, Reddick said, “It was a little banter to have fun with, and apparently it got taken a little bit out of proportion.”
Reddick credited traveling secretary Mickey Morabito for the team’s top-notch accommodations on the road.
With Doubront’s injury, non-roster invitee Eric Surkamp is the fifth starter.
