Global tiger population up 22%

There are close to 3,900 tigers in the wild – up from 3,200 tigers in 2010. This increase has come primarily from India, Russia, Nepal and Bhutan, where new areas were included in the national surveys, improved survey techniques were used and conservation efforts are paying off.
