– Almost two years after their kidnap, one of the missing Chibok schoolgirls, Saratu called her father, Dauda Yama
– Yama noticed the missed call from his daughter when he went to retrieve his mobile phone from his neighbour’s house
– He returned the call, which was picked up by a man who said the phone belonged to his wife
– The man warned him to never call his wife again or lose his life
Dauda Yama, one of the parents of the missing Chibok girls noticed a missed call from his daughter Saratu who was kidnapped alongside other students.
Yama had gone to retrieve his mobile phone from a neighbour’s house in January, when he noticed the missed call, Reuters reports.
Some of the over 200 secondary school girls kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists close to two years ago.
The last time he spoke with his daughter, who has been missing for almost two years was on April 14, 2014, when she called to say the Boko Haram insurgents had kidnapped her and her classmates from the Government Girls’ Secondary School in Chibok, Borno state.
All attempts to reach her after then proved abortive.
After he noticed the missed call, Yama returned the call that evening and it was picked up by a man and he hung up.

Yama rushed to the home of Yakubu Nkeki, chairman of the association of parents of the abducted girls from Chibok.
Nkeki, a 58-year-old schoolteacher, whose 17-year-old adopted daughter Maimuna Yakubu Usman is among those missing, took the phone and redialled the number that was again answered by a man who said the phone belonged to his wife.
They reported the matter to a campaigner with the Bring Back Our Girls group, which advocates the return of the missing girls.
According to Nkeki they don’t know who to trust as he has received physical threats for his efforts to keep the abduction of the Chibok girls in the headlines and the government’s sights.
After the initial success, Nkeki and Yama dialed Saratu’s number a few more times but the line repeatedly went dead.
However, Nkeki said when Yama tried again in February, it rang.
“The man warned him never to call his wife’s number again. He said if he is not careful, he will lose his life,” he said.
In two days time, it will be two years since over 200 girls were abducted from their hostel in Chibok community and they remain missing despite every effort to locate them and bring them back.

Though, 57 of the abducted girls were able to escape from the insurgents and came back home.
Former president Goodluck Jonathan was strongly criticised for his slow reaction to the Chibok kidnappings.
His successor, President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered a new investigation into the abductions in January, though he said he has no knowledge of the missing girls whereabouts.
Report surfaced two day back that the Boko Haram terrorists were ready to exchange the missing Chibok girls for about N10billion.
The Nigerian government quickly denied the report of the insurgents asking for ransom.
