Flabba killer’s leave to appeal bid postponed
Sindisiwe Manqele’s application for leave of appeal her murder conviction and sentence has been postponed.
|||Johannesburg - The application for leave of appeal by Sindisiwe Manqele, who last month was found guilty of murdering her rapper boyfriend Nkululeko “Flabba” Habedi, was on Tuesday postponed to 24 and 25 May due to the transcript of the trial not being present.
At the High Court sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, Judge Solly Sithole addressed Manqele and said: “Your counsel has gone to the ends of the earth to get the transcript and it’s not a complete one.”
He said that he needed the full transcript present in order for him to continue with the appeal.
Sithole added that Manqele’s bail conditions would remain the same except for the fact that she would no longer be required to wear the security tag which she had been ordered to wear.
Manqele was was found guilty of murdering Habedi at his Alexander home in March 2015 and was given a 12-year sentence. She was granted bail of R15 000 pending the outcome of her appeal against her conviction and sentence.
