SA scoops two investment awards
SA’s Department of Trade and Industry and its investment promotion agency - InvestSA - have scooped investment awards in Dubai.
|||Johannesburg - South Africa’s Department of Trade and Industry (dti) and its investment promotion agency, InvestSA, were both bestowed with investment awards in Dubai, the dti said on Tuesday.
The dti scooped the runner-up award for best investment project facilitated in the Southern African Region and InvestSA received the 3rd prize for investment agency in the Indian Ocean Rim Association countries (IORA).
The awards ceremony was held during the Annual Investor Meeting (AIM) in Dubai, hosted under the patronage of Sheik Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
The AIM conference focuses on foreign directives investment (FDI) attractiveness, best practice, global hot spots and future FDI destinations.
The AIM Investor project award is for the MPACT PET Recycling project, which will be launched this month in Wadeville, Gauteng.
Deputy Minister Mzwandile Masina received the awards on behalf of the dti and InvestSA, which were presented by UAE Minister of Economy Saeed Al Mansoori.
Masina, in a statement on Tuesday, said these awards were a “vote of confidence in South Africa” as an investment destination of choice. The awards were also an acknowledgement of the SA government’s ability to facilitate such investments, said the deputy minister.
President Jacob Zuma recently announced an Inter-Ministerial Committee on investment and an InvestSA approach to improve South Africa’s overall investment climate and to reduce red tape in government.
