Deutsche Bank halts plan to add 250 jobs in North Carolina after LGBT legislation

Deutsche Bank said Tuesday it will put on hold its plans to create 250 new jobs in Cary, North Carolina, following legislation that bank said invalidated protections of the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender citizens in some municipalities. "We're proud of our operations and employees in Cary and regret that as a result of this legislation we are unwilling to include North Carolina in our US expansion plans for now," said John Cryan, co-chief executive of the German bank. "We very much hope that we can re-visit our plans to grow this location in the near future." The bank currently employs 900 people in Cary. The stock, which slipped 0.5% in premarket trade, has tumbled 34% year to date, while the S&P 500 has eased 0.1%.
