EgyptAir hijacker claims Cyprus asylum

A man accused of hijacking an EgyptAir plane and diverting it to Cyprus is expected to fight his extradition after claiming asylum, authorities said on Tuesday. "The suspect has asked for asylum and this procedure will run in parallel with the court hearing on extradition," an official said.
