A clever restaurant in Des Moines has modified its breakfast menu to give it a #DoYourJob theme, just as Senator Chuck Grassley is having breakfast with Obama's Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland in Washington.
“Iowans wake up every day, have breakfast, and do their job,” said Matt Sinovic, executive director of Progress Iowa and Why Courts Matter Iowa coalition member. “We don’t get to decide when to follow our job description, and Senator Grassley shouldn’t get to ignore the constitution and the precedent set by a century of hearings. We hope after his breakfast meeting with Judge Garland, Senator Grassley will stop serving up cold obstruction and start doing his job.”
Grassley is the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and his position is considered crucial to obstructing the Obama nominee.
Given the clusterfreek that the Republican nomination for President is, it is perhaps dawning on the marbleheads in the US Senate that obstructing Garland serves no purpose except to soothe the Rush Limbaugh wing of the GOP.
