Heartland Coach, Alphonsus Dike has commended his team’s performance over weekend after they defeated Rivers United 2-1 at the Dan Anyiam stadium in Owerri.
The Owerri based side recorded a hard earned victory over the Port Harcourt based side in a week 11 football league encounter and the coach attributed the victory to his team’s hard work.

“I’m excited and challenged because the match was keenly contested, so I think it is a good result.
“The boys were able to adapt to the situation, they changed their style when the waves came and they did well,” he said.
On the other hand Rivers United coach, Stanley Eguma did not hide his feelings as he showered praises on Heartland.
“It was a good game, like I said the two teams gave account of themselves,” he said.

The win propels Heartland to 10th on the log with 14 points from 10 matches while Rivers United dropped two places from table to 7th after acquiring 16 points from 11 games.
Heartland named Alphonsus Dike as its new technical adviser on Sunday, February 28, following the Naze Millionaires home defeat to Abia Warriors in a Week 3 fixture. Ex-coach Bethel Orji was immediately sacked by the club’s management.
