The Senate
The Senate on Tuesday, April 11, reaffirmed its commitment and readiness to work and hear the pleas of Nigerians.
While speaking with journalists, Senator Abdulahi Sabi,the chairman Senate committee on media and publicity, said the senate is not unmindful of the cries of Nigerians as the Senate will work by the provisions of the constitution.
“We want to appeal to Nigerians that the Senate is committed to doing its work diligently and to do what is right.
“I think this we have said times without number, we mean business in the 8th senate and are aware of all the issues being raised in the media,” he said.
Also, two bills scaled second reading on the floor of the Senate. These two bills include a bill for an act to provide for the establishment of defense space agency, and for other matters connected therewith, 2016.

The second bill is a bill for an act to establish the National commission for conciliation and arbitration, national labour council, the office of the registrar of trade unions, etc, to administer the provisions of labour laws in Nigeria and for matters connected therewith, 2016.
This bill seeks to provide the establishment of the National Commission for Concilliation and Arbritration, National Labour Council and Office of the registrar of trade unions to administer the provisions of labour laws in Nigeria.
Also, eight bills were presented on the floor of the Senate for first reading. Some of these bills include criminal injuries compensation bill, Nigerian football federation (establishment etc) bill 2016, In-vitro fertilisation bill 2016 among others.

The Senate went on recess for the Easter break on Wednesday, March 23, after passing the 2016 budget. This is their first sitting after two weeks of their two-weeks holiday.
