US oil closes at 2016 high of $42.17 a barrel

New York, April 12, 2016 (AFP) -US oil on Tuesday surged to the highest close of the year so far, on reports of a deal between Saudi Arabia and Russia to freeze output. US benchmark West Texas Intermediate for delivery in May gained $1.81 at $42.17 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
