Lydia Ko’s accuracy spells success
In seven starts this season, Ko has won two tournaments (including the first major of the year), finished second twice and tied for third once.
[...] Ko comes back to Lake Merced Golf Club, her personal playground, for the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic starting Thursday.
“You don’t have to hit it a long way,” Ko said in an interview last month, during her visit to the Bay Area.
Ko, who was born in South Korea and raised in New Zealand, turns 19 on Sunday.
Ko, like Spieth, also is proving it’s not a prerequisite to hit the ball mind-blowing distances to win, even in 2016.
Check out the LPGA statistics:
Ko ranks No. 125 on tour in average driving distance, at 250.3 yards.
If I can just increase a couple of yards, I think that makes a difference.
Ko turned pro only 2½ years ago, but she’s already the face of women’s golf.
