Rockets wary of what trip to Houston may bring
There are trips home that feel warm and comforting, and there are those faced by the Houston Rockets after Game 2 in Oakland, full of doubt and a level of concern stretching well beyond the basketball court.
Before the Warriors’ 115-106 victory, head coaches Steve Kerr and J.B. Bickerstaff each made a point of addressing the terrible flooding in Houston, how the extreme crisis made it difficult for basketball fans to enjoy these playoffs.
The Rockets had just lost to the Stephen Curry-less Warriors, and it felt like a vanquished opportunity.
“Those guys over there are champions and they have a locker room full of champions,” Bickerstaff said.
James Harden (28 points) said the Rockets played a little bit better tonight, but not well enough to win.
Patrick Beverley, the intensely aggressive defender who was loudly booed all night, got dressed slowly in the locker room, not willing to talk “until I button up my collared shirt,” he said.
[...] with that, the Rockets headed into the night, beaten and fearing a scene much more harrowing than Oracle Arena.
