Capitals take 3-0 series lead against Flyers

Alex Ovechkin scored twice, Braden Holtby had 31 saves and the Washington Capitals moved one win from a sweep in their best-of-seven Eastern Conference series with a 6-1 victory over the Flyers in Philadelphia on Monday.

Ovechkin snapped a tie with his 38th postseason goal and Holtby made the lead stand with his third straight sensational effort in the series.

Washington, which had the NHL’s best record this season, scored five power-play goals.

Jason Pominville had two goals and an assist and host Minnesota erased an early two-goal deficit to beat Dallas and slice the Stars’ lead in the Western Conference series to 2-1.

Erik Haula added a goal and an assist, Mikko Koivu scored on a power play in the third period and the Wild stopped a seven-game losing streak that started March 31.
