Delta LP denies merger talks with APC to dethrone PDP
But reacting to enquiries from journalists, the Delta LP chairman said that the party has never been in negotiation with any political party for fusion to form a formidable opposition and dislodge the PDP from power in 2019.
“I think it is all story as far as I am concerned. I am the state chairman of Labour Party, so if there is any such thing and I am not aware, it is not real. As far as I am concerned, Labour Party remains Labor Party in Delta state.
“The leadership of the party led by me as the state chairman is not part of any merger talks. So LP remains LP, we are not doing anything with APC as far as the LP that I lead is concerned. I am the final arbiter of the party in Delta state,” Ezeagwu said.
“And this has not ended the relationship. In Nigerian politics, people move from party to party at will but I decided not to play that kind of politics. Tomorrow, like I said earlier, something could still bring us together politically but today, I have decided to remain LP chairman.
“By tomorrow, even if he decides to stay put in APC, when he comes and seek alliance, we can still go ahead to talk. For now, I make it categorically clear that we have one LP in the state,” he fumed.
