The fuel reportedly belonged to Total Nigeria Plc and was expected to be discharged at Beha Tech filling station in Giade local government in Bauchi state but was diverted to Abasawa village to be sold above N85.5 per litre.
“The EFCC is mandated to act in any matter that concerns the economy. After we impounded the product and the arrested the people involved in the act, we then obtained an order from the court which enables the commission to sell the fuel at government approved price and here we are today selling it to the public at N85.5 per liter in compliance with the court order.”
Motorists expressed delight at the action of the EFCC and said this will prevent future occurrence.

Aliyu Isa, a commercial driver said: “Had the commission adopted this kind of measures, people will not suffer from the scarcity of the product in the state. I am calling on the DPR to also borrow a leaf from the EFCC.”
Muhammad Inuwa Kawo who is also a motorist commended the commission. “This is the kind of response the public needed from government agencies responsible for handling fuel matters. We need action not talking. I am sure this single action of the commission will send a bad signal to whoever is into the business fuel diversion.”
Meanwhile, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation claimed 1,194 trucks of petrol are set to be distributed nationwide.
According to the NNPC’s Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) daily supply nationwide schedule, twenty one import vessels laden with a total volume of 844.1 million litres have been confirmed to arrive in the month of April for NNPC.
