Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state has reiterated his appeal to all Nigerians to come to the aid of people affected by the insurgency to help them start a new lease of life.
Shettima stated this while hosting the Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II at Government House Maiduguri.

The Governor who broke into tears while narrating the critical living condition of the victims of the insurgency in the state, lamented that at the moment there are more than one million internally displaced persons living within the Maiduguri city alone overstretching the little socio-economic facilities.
Kashim Shettima said the sufferings of the people have impacted negatively in all facet of development of the State, called for assistance from passionate Nigerians to the people of Borno state to overcome the problems.
The Emir of Kano who was in Borno state for the convocation ceremony of the University of Maiduguri said a survey he conducted personally shows that the ravaging poverty index of Borno axis has doubled than that of Chad and Niger Republics put together and appealed to philanthropists and other well-meaning citizens of the country to come to the victims of the insurgency of the State.
Emir Muhammad Sanusi said that Borno was an integral part of Nigeria and as such, it has become necessary upon all Nigerians to assist in alleviating the sufferings of its people.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has said the number of all Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Nigerian refugees is frightening
Vanguard reports that Buhari made this known at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he received Ambassador Samantha Power, the United States permanent representatives to the United Nations.
Speaking at the meeting, Buhari however noted that his administration has begun the process of comprehensive compilation of their data to speed up their resettlement.
