Giant sinkhole opens in San Francisco neighborhood

A spokesman for the city's Public Utilities Commission told the San Francisco Chronicle (http://bit.ly/1Vqwp17 ) that crews were on the scene Thursday evening to check out a depression when the pavement gave way and the hole appeared.

There was no private property damage and no customers in the pricey Pacific Heights neighborhood had water or sewer service cut off.
