Venezuela opposition to skip planned meeting with government
CARACAS, Venezuela — Venezuela’s opposition is skipping a meeting with the government and endangering ongoing talks aimed at diffusing the country’s political crisis.
Opposition spokesman Jesus Torrealba said that the coalition would not attend Tuesday’s meeting because the government has not fulfilled its promises.
The Vatican-mediated dialogue is aimed at steering the country away from violence as a majority of voters want President Nicolas Maduro out, and the government refuses to allow a recall referendum to proceed.
