Body believed to be of skier killed in Nevada avalanche found
The extensive search for the 64-year-old man began Saturday morning after a skiing companion reported the avalanche on the ski resort’s Jackpot Chute, a backcountry section that was not yet open to skiers this season, said sheriff’s spokesman Bob Harmon.
About 40 rescuers resumed the search about 9 a.m. Sunday, using search dogs to concentrate on one area where the body was found buried in 8 to 10 feet of snow, Harmon said.
The man’s name was not immediately released pending confirmation of the body’s identity by the county medical examiner’s office.
