Warriors game day: Can Golden State bounce back against Minnesota?
Steve Kerr, 3rd season with Warriors (160-28 with Warriors and overall); Tom Thibodeau, 1st season with Timberwolves (6-17 with Timberwolves and 261-156 overall)
Timberwolves: PG Ricky Rubio (6.6 ppg, 6.4 apg), SG Zach LaVine (20.2 ppg, 3.0 rpg), SF Andrew Wiggins (22.1 ppg, 4.0 rpg), PF Gorgui Dieng (10.3 ppg, 8.0 rpg), C Karl Anthony-Towns (21.4 ppg, 10.4 rpg)
Warriors injury report: SF Kevon Looney (sprained left ankle) and C Zaza Pachulia (right wrist contusion) are questionable.
Timberwolves injury report: PF Nemanja Bjelica (sore right ankle) is questionable.
C Nikola Pekovic (right ankle injury) is out.
If history is any indicator, the Warriors will be motivated by Saturday’s embarrassment and deliver an inspired performance.
Content to settle for isolation situations, players often hoisted ill-advised jumpers early in the shot clock.
The focus Sunday will be on returning to the selfless ways that have helped Golden State lead the league in scoring (118.1 points per game), assists (31.1), blocks (6.6), steals (9.6) and field-goal percentage (.499).
Over their past eight games, the Timberwolves are allowing 114.6 points on 49 percent shooting.
The Warriors shot 55.6 percent from the field, including 11-of-22 from beyond the arc, in their Nov. 26 win over Minnesota at Oracle Arena.
Can Golden State limit Karl Anthony-Towns?
Towns’ offensive potential was on full display Nov. 30 against New York, when he erupted for a career-high 47 points to become the fourth-youngest player in league history to reach that mark.
The Warriors seemed to find a good defensive blueprint for Towns in last month’s win over the Timberwolves: send double-teams when necessary, but let Kevin Durant handle the task for the most part.
Draymond Green, who missed that game with an ankle injury, will be available Sunday to assist Durant on Towns.
